Walgreen's Register Rewards - How They Work

How Walgreen’s Register Rewards Work

Often times while you’re shopping at Walgreen’s, you’ll find an item on sale that says “like getting it for $____” after Register Rewards.

When you checkout after purchasing that item, you’ll get a paper coupon along with your receipt, and often time, you might look at it, and just throw it away.

Register Rewards are typically good for one week after you’ve received one, and they’re good on most items in the store, minus milk, cigarettes, liquor and a few other items that are stated on the bottom of the Register Reward in that tiny writing.

Sometimes, Reigster Rewards “roll”, which means that you can keep getting them on the same item that you purchased to get it in the first place, but using your Register Reward to pay for the item. But, most of the time they do not roll.

If you’ve never used a Register Reward before, it can be a little intimidating at first, but once you do it a few times, you’ll get the hang of it, and it will be easy breezy.

So now you’re probably asking, “how do I use them”?

Let’s say for example there’s an item on sale with a Register Reward, and we’ll use this example because it’s an up-coming deal at Walgreen’s.

Triaminic is on sale 2/$10 with $5 Register Rewards

What’s that mean?
It means that when you buy 2 participating Triaminic products, you’ll pay $10 out of your pocket or debit/credit, and you’ll receive a Register Reward back in the amount of $5. Now, this Register Reward is not cash, nor is it a credit on your debit/credit cards. It’s that little paper slip they give you with your receipt like I mentioned before.

Without using any coupons, you’ve paid $10+ tax out of pocket, and you’ve received $5 back in Register Rewards, making your products “like” getting them for 2/$5 or $2.50 each.

Now, let’s make this deal a little sweeter – right now, there’s a $3/2 printable coupon available at Coupons.com that you can print out and use when you check out.

This means, that you’re still going to buy 2 of the participating Triaminic’s, except NOW, you’re only going to pay $7+ tax out of pocket, credit/debit, AND you’re still going to get your Register Reward for $5, making your products “like” getting them for 2/$2 or $1.00 each.

So ask yourself, would you rather pay $2.50 for a product, or would you rather pay $1.00 for that same product?

Using coupons in conjunction with Register Rewards is a great way to save MORE money on items that you would normally buy anyway. If you wait until the item is on sale, or there is a Register Reward deal, you’re going to stretch your $$$$ further.

There will be times that there is not a coupon available to use, or times when you absolutely need an item and it’s not on sale, and THAT’S OK! You’ve still saved yourself a lot of money!

Yes, I could pay $5 for the bottle of Triaminic, but say I have to buy 6 during the year, that’s $30 a year that I would pay. If I use coupons, (say the $3/2 like above), I would pay $21 a year, and if I used a coupon and got Register Rewards back, it would be “like” paying $6. That’s a savings of 80%!

If you used coupons and Register Rewards on other items throughout the whole year, imagine your savings then!
